Born to parents David and Candy on April 8, 1984 Taran Noah Smith was following in
his sister Aria's footsteps (she's an international model) and did his first
commercial and print ad by the time he was 6 months old. He has also appeared in several local and national
commercials (companies such as J.C. Penney and Macey's). In 1991, he landed the role of Mark on Home Improvement.
Taran's name comes from "The Book of Three" in a series of Welsh-legend books that were the basis for Disney's
"The Black Cauldron".
Taran has made appearances on "Entertainment Tonight", "John & Leeza",
"Good Morning America" and "Live With Regis and Kathie Lee". And recently made
appearances on "Easter at the White House" and in the "Hollywood
Christmas Parade". He has also made numerous apparances on "Figure it Out".
In addition to numerous promotional appearances, Taran makes charity
appearances in support of Multiple Sclerosis and the "Make a Wish Foundation".
His concern for dolphins and whales has led to his participation with "Earthtrust". As well,
Taran made an appearance at the "Kids'R'Us" children's coat drive in New York city in
November 1995 (all proceeds from the event supported the Salvation Army).
When he's not working, Taran enjoys rollerblading, fencing, and mountain biking. He is also very
much into roller-hockey, and is supposedly an awesome defenseman! He also has a passion for roller coasters and enjoys sharing the controls of
his father's home-built experimental airplane. Taran is currently taking lessons
and logging hours toward getting his pilot's license.
Taran's favorite subjects in school are Math and Art... and his favourite
color is red. When he's got a craving for something to eat, you're likely
to find Taran searching for oriental food, particularly Thai.
Taran is now 5'9" tall and weighs 130 lbs.
