- The
Biography Channel series "Cult TV Stars" featured episodes on
Home Improvement (Saturday February 28, 2004 8pm ET / 9pm PT) and Tim
Allen (Saturday February 28, 2004 9pm ET / 10pm PT).
- It is with regret that we post the news that Earl Hindman passed away on
Monday December 29, 2003.
- The long awaited Home Improvement special aired on Sunday May 4,
2003 with a repeat broadcast on Saturday May 17, 2003 on ABC. The User's Guide to Watching Home Improvement
featured Tim Allen with appearances by Richard Karn (Al), and Debbe Dunning (Heidi). Tim
presented his own favorite clips from the
show, insider's tips, personal reflections and a question and answer session
with the live audience!
GOODBYE Home Improvement... May 25, 1999 - a sad day for
Home Improvement fans as the final episode of the show aired on ABC.
- Production for Season 8 of Home Improvement began
on August 3, 1998 at the Disney studios in Burbank, CA. The first taping
of the season was on August 7.
- The cast started back to work on Season 7 on August 4, 1997... the first taping
of the season was on August 8, 1997.
- Home Improvement is shown in Germany under the title "Hoer Mal wer da Haemmert"
- Home Improvement in Mexico, Brazil, the Caribbean and the rest of Latin America...
DirectTV presents an entertainment package called "Disney Weekend" which features
a number of Disney productions, including Home Improvement.
- The new TV Ratings system in the US has rated Home Improvement with
a TV-G rating for the first rated episodes.
- Home Improvement won a Planned Parenthood Federation of America
Maggie Award *AND* a Turner Prize for the episode "The Vasectomy One".
- Both Jonathan and Tim were hosts of Nickelodeon's "Big Help" on September 30, 1996
in Santa Monica.
- Richard made TV appearances on "Chariot of the Gods" on September 26, 1996 and
on "Secrets of the Internet" on November 17, 1996 on The Discovery Channel.
- Home Improvement won an Emmy for Outstanding Achivement in Lighting
Direction (Electronic) for a Comedy Series for the episode "Room Without a View"...
congratulations to Donald A. Morgan, Director of Photography and the rest of the HI gang!
- Tim unveiled a power drill, the first in his new line of signature power tools (manufactured by Ryobi) at the National Hardware Show on August 13, 1996 in Chicago; Richard also made a brief appearance.
- "The Adventures of Pinocchio"
(New Line Cinema, Savoy Pictures, a Kushner Locke Production) opened in theatres on
July 26, 1996. Jonathan spent 2 weeks in the summer of 1995 in Europe (Prague, Czech Republic) working
on the live action portion of his role. He also does the voice of the
animated Pinocchio. Along with the theatrical release of the movie they will be
releasing an interactive CD-ROM game using actual movie footage.
- The world premier of Jonathans movie "The Adventures of Pinocchio"
took place on July 21, 1996 at Mann's Criterion Theatre in Santa Monica, CA. The
proceeds from the event benefited the Amie Karen Cancer Fund for Children, The
Leukemia Society of America and the National Tuberous Sclerosis Association.
- Taran was honored for his work with the Make a Wish Foundation at the Aviation
Expo '96 at the Van Nuys, CA Airport on July 13, 1996.
- Zach spent part of the summer of 1996 working on a movie called "True Heart"; which was
filmed in Vancouver, BC. He plays a character named Sam.
- Zach and Richard took time out of their schedules in the spring of 1996 to participate in the Richard Karn
Celebrity Golf Classic. We hear that Zach almost took out an "Extra"
cameraman with one of his shots :-)
- Tim was rated top TV dad by 40% of participants in MCI's Friends & Family Father's
Day survey. He placed second in Mobil Oil's Fathers Day poll 1996.
- Richard is spokesperson for the Rechargeable Battery Recycling Corporation's
"Charge up to Recycle" program. The program allows consumers to bring used Ni-Cad
batteries into any participating retailer for recycling.
- Taran spent the summer of 1996 working on a new movie "Little Bigfoot" which filmed
in Southern California in late May thru late June.
- Patrica spent her summer in 1996 working on two movie projects... the first of which
is titled "Ulee's Gold" and filmed in Florida by Orion Pictures during
April and May (also stars Peter Fonda). Immediately following she will began
production of "Undue Influence", a 4 hour miniseries for CBS.
- CONGRATULATIONS to Zach and his soccer team who placed 2nd in the World and 1st
in the United States in the Dallas Cup Soccer tournament in 1996!
- Debbe made a movie appearance in a movie entitled "Leprechaun 3: Lost In Space"
- Home Improvement's still got what it takes... the episode "The Longest Day"
which aired on April 2, 1996 and featured the pain of the
Taylor family as they first found out that Randy could potentially have Cancer, and
their joy when they found out that he didn't; took NUMBER ONE
spot for the week in the Neilsen ratings with a 23... representing a 36 share or 38
million viewers. Both Patricia and Jonathan put forward award winning [IMHO] performances
in this episode!
- Jonathan is starring as Marshall Stouffer in a new movie entitled "Wild America" along
with Devon Sawa. The movie filmed in Georgia in April 1996, and moved to
Alberta, Canada until the middle of June 1996. The film also stars Devon Sawa (as Mark) & Scott Bairstow (as Marty). It
was released 1997.
- Jonathan was honored with the National Association of Theatre Owners Young Star of
the year award in a ceremony on March 7th, 1996
- Jonathan's second feature film "Tom & Huck [originally titled "Tom Sawyer"]
" (Disney/Painted
Fence Productions) opened in theatres the weekend of December 22, 1995.
It was filmed in the summer of 1995 in Huntsville, Alabama and also
starring Rachel Leigh Cook & Brad Renfro.
- Jonathan made his movie debut in a movie called "Man of
the House" (Disney/All Girl Productions). Jonathan shows off
some acting talent that he had not been given the opportunity to show on
HI. The movie co-stars Chevy Chase. "Man of the House"
is available on video, and is also making the rounds on pay television
in the US and Canada.
- Debbe Dunning made an appearance on an episode of "Silk Stalkings"
- Jonathan played the voice of young Simba in Disney's "The Lion King"
- Tim played Scott Calvin/Santa Claus in the Disney movie "Santa Clause" [now available on video; in European Theatres at the beginning of December].

- Tim played the voice of Buzz Lightyear in Disney's new
animated feature "Toy Story" This movie is available on video.
- Zach stars in "Magic Island" (Paramount Pictures), available
on video.
- The movie Zach worked on in the summer of 1995, "
First Kid" (also starring Sinbad) opened in theatres at the end
of August 1996.
- The characters of the two girls on "Thunder Alley" are named after Jonathan
(Claudine) and Zach's (Jenny) moms!
